Frequently Asked Questions

When you register a domain name with a Registrar, you are requesting ownership of a "top-level" domain name. A top-level domain name is one that that ends in ".com" or ".net". A sub-domain would be a sub-set of names that can be used with that top-level domain. For Example, http://interxstream.com would be a top level domain. http://helpdesk.interxstream.com would make "heldpesk" a subdomain for interxstream.com

Your nameservers should be set to:

ns1.ixsweb.com

ns3.ixsweb.com

You may setup your new domains in your web host manager, or just email us at support@interxstream.com or open a support ticket with your request. Include the new domain name(s) and different usernames to apply to each domain name account.

First, you should check to be sure you have authority for your domain name. If your current hosting provider registered your domain name for you, you should contact them and inquire about obtaining ownership. If you registered your own domain, simply contact your Registrar for the domain name and modify the nameserver settings (sometimes called 'DNS settings') for the domain name. New nameserver settings will be given to you by your new Hosting provider at signup.

Second, you should be aware of the 24-48 hour delay in nameserver propagation.

Shell access is included with each hosting package. However, our automated setup software does not include the shell access right away.

Simply send an e-mail to support@interxstream.com (or open a ticket in the helpdesk) with your domain name, cpanel username/password and we will activate your shell account

Bandwidth is the amount of data that is transferred to/from your website. Each time the viewer view your website, the is a small amount of data that is downloaded from your web site (pictures, text, logos etc) to the viewer's computer.

If your bandwidth limit is 15GB/month, that means all the data transferred from your website within a month must be less than or equal 15GB (1.5GB = 1.5 x 1024MB = 15,360MB = 1.5 x 1024 x 1024KB = 15,728,640 KB).

A typical size of one page of a website is about 22KB. This amount includes the text, images such as logos, pictures.

With that said, if one user accesses one page of your website it will cost you about 30KB. With this calculation, you could recieve 524,288 vistors to that one page in a given month.

The numbers given are only for example. Your website may be more or less depending on the number of pictures, flash movies, logos and text.
